If you are a fan of the X-Men comic book series, you might have seen the character Jean Grey move objects with her mind. She is what you may call a psychic. Have you ever had those moments where you had a feeling that the phone would ring? And the next you know, it goes off. Or you have that weird feeling that someone is looking for you, and you’re right? Or how some movie keeps popping in your head and when you turn on the television, it’s the one playing? Can you write these off as mere coincidences?
While others may think or feel that this is something for the comic books, there are sectors in this world that believe we are tapping into a previously unknown part of our brain and that there is something more than mere coincidence happening. Some scientists call this extrasensory perception or ESP. Whether or not you believe in these things, studies related to ESP have been gaining ground in the scientific community.
The first step in developing this special ability is accepting the fact that you have it. Most people might be ashamed to admit that they have ESP because they might be labeled as different by their peers. There is always that fear of becoming an outcast from society. Once you accept the fact that you indeed have this special gift, the more you can focus on developing it.
Like any difficult sport, developing your ESP requires hard work and practice. Like how talent comes naturally to superstar athletes, their skills must also be worked on in order to release their full potential. The same thing applies to ESP. If you really want to develop your talent, you have to work on it and practice hard. Unlike sports though, success cannot be measure specifically. It could lead to frustration for some, but you have to understand that patience is a key here too. Never give up when the hard times roll by. The more you get through these kinds of trials, the strong you and your ability will become. Your practice venue should be a place where you can essentially meditate. It should be a stress free environment where you can be alone with the sounds of nature. Here you should be able to concentrate on honing your abilities. Try to relax and have your mind at ease. It is hard to focus if your thoughts are scattered all over the place. Understand that focus is an integral part of making your abilities better. So without focus you can’t even begin to practice your special skill.
Focus and repetition are keys to honing your skill. You should know that by practicing your focus properly, it still wouldn’t be enough without repetition. These two should go hand in hand, one without the other is like depriving a man of his needs for fresh air. These techniques take up the most amount of concentration. It’s the type of concentration needed to discern a certain voice amongst the groups.
Remember, having ESP is a gift and not a curse. Embrace your talent and do not be ashamed.
